Using Variable Font Width to Adjust Flow of Text Within Text Boxes
In slide and graphics software, text usually lives in a fixed-size box, and shrinking the box makes the text spill past its edges. This technique uses the width axis of a variable font to narrow the letterforms as the box gets smaller — and widen them again as it grows — so the text keeps fitting its container instead of overflowing or being clipped.
