Dynamic Presentation of Document Content for Rapid On-Line Skimming
Extraction-based summaries are only useful if the reader can see how they relate to the source. This paper argues that skimmable document abstractions need phrasal-level analysis and dynamic, context-preserving interfaces. It introduces temporal typography, in which salient phrases are presented over time, and describes several prototype document viewers.
