Multi-Dimensional Foraging and Retrieval of Documents
An interface for exploring a large document collection along several structured dimensions at once — author, topic, date, and so on — shown side by side. The user repeatedly tightens or loosens the query, spiralling in and spiralling out around a visible boundary between the documents currently selected and those left out, keeping a sense of the whole collection while zeroing in.
Developed at Xerox PARC, in the same line of research as the interactive classification patent.
